Public Folder cannot be accessed by other machines on netowkr

I had to reinstall MAC OS X (Leopard) and everything is back up and going very happily except i cannot access my public folder from another machine. I have ensured that the folder is shared and that also the settings are correct but i must have forgotten something, does anyone have any ideas please. I am trying to acess it through a windows machine and have the smb file sharing on.

Make sure your System Preferences/File Sharing/Options SMB box is checked...

File sharing on, smb ticked, everything done that i can see.....
