File search is not finding files that are there. Comes up with 0 files but when you manually look for the file, it is there.

Ok, so even if you type in something generic like .jpg nothing at all comes up?

Some things do come up like .jpg. Connected to 3 servers but can only search on 2 (local) servers.

On some servers, especially OS X server for some reason I get no results at all from a search

If I know the file might be in a certain folder I can add that to the custom search (called others) and that lets me search the mounted volume

Hitting the Command key and pressing F, still invokes Spotlight. Spotlight is not a typical search utility in that it doesn't actually dredge an entire disk file-by-file. Instead, it builds and maintains an index of select locations on a disk that it can easily search by. So, sometimes, particularly if it's a hidden or system file, you won't be able to find it with Spotlight.

In these cases, I use EasyFind, which WILL do a full sweep of the disk.
