I hope that everyone is having a great day with friends, family, and fun! Stay safe and celebrate; we live in a great country.

EDIT: I wanted to tell (vent to) you all regarding something here in Iraq. When we arrived here back in January, my platoon built a small flag pole outside of the warehouse that we live in. We then raised an American Flag. Not an hour passed before someone from the CoC (I suppose you could say "headquarters") came and told us that American Flags could not be flown. I imagine that this is due to us not wanting to look like we're "conquering" or taking over. To be honest, it has made me mad every day since.

Today (the 4th), however, we amassed about 25 flags. On the same pole that we got in trouble for (and it has stood there, flagless, sine then) we raised each one and tied it off. It was basically our little way of sticking it to the man and doing what we fight to protect: being Americans! I have to say, it felt great.

Again, have a great day everyone.
