Mixer/Interface recommendations?

I am just enough old school to want a board with sliders for mixdown. I travel a lot with a Macbook running Logic 8 and would prefer something compact. Any suggestions, preferably Firewire?

Well, if you want something super cheap and compact, as far as just an interface is concerned, have a look at the behringer bcf-2000. It has a logic control emulation feature which is truely plug and play.

If you also want audio out soundcard-wise on a budget, have a look at the lexicon alpha. Its basic, but sounds pretty good.

Firewire options will be a bit more expensive though.
