When my MBP (OSX 10.4.11) is running on battery supply it turns off without warning when approximately half the battery is depleted. I have no idea how to troubleshoot this problem. Suggestions? I also have all the latest software updates via Software Update

I tried to calibrate it but it shuts off about 50% and won't deplete without it hibernating like it should. I did however see what could look like an expanded battery but doesn't actually bulge like the batteries I've seen on the web.

Unit,

Could be a bad battery or at least on the way to bad... Seems to be a MBP problem these days... If it's new, I'd call Apple and complain, tell them what you told us and see if they'll give you a new battery.

Did you ever solve this problem? I have something similar, although my shutdown occurs only at low battery

I'm just buying a new battery. My computer is a year old.
