Uploading files to internet error

Just wondering if anyone would be able to give me some advice on an error I've encountered.

Whenever I try an upload any type of file to any site on the internet, it comes up with a message saying 'error uploading on I/O' or similar.

It has been happening for about a month now and I have no idea why, any advice you may have on the topic would be greatly appreciated.
