Who is crazy excited for this game? It's hard to believe that the original is over 10 years old now, I play Warcraft III on battle.net regularly, and Starcraft 2 is looking really awesome.

Let's start talking about it and go bananas until it comes out.

Yup, can't wait. Just hope its not over 3 GB... (but since its a modern game, it probably will be)

Why? Better graphics = larger size.

I've seen games with good graphics come in relatively small sizes. A lot of current gen games for that mac are about 2-4 GB in size.

I've been following the website for ages, I love how Blizzard release the source files for their videos so you can download them and watch them in good definition.

Although I feel a bit dirty because I'm more excited about Diablo 3 now...

Yea, I saw Diablo 3, but Starcraft is where it's at. I think if the game is 3 gig's, that is irrelevant to me, since you can get a 320gig external HD for less than a $100, and an internal one for $50. I hope the system specs are pretty reasonable, as the graphics are looking pretty complex and detailed to me at this point.

Well these are the PC specs currently required for the game. According to a magazine and they are for PC but we can easily convert those to an equivalent Mac requirement.

Minumum Requirements

GFX: GeForce 7/8 Series or Radeon 1000/2000 with 256 MB RAM
CPU: Pentium 4
RAM: 1 GB
Internet: ADSL 1 Mbit

Recommended Requirements

GFX: GeForce 8000 or Radeon 2000 series with 512 MB RAM
CPU: Core 2 Duo or Athlon X2.
RAM: 2 GB
Internet: ADSL 3 Mbit

Optimal Requirements

GFX: Geforce 9000er or Radeon 3000er Series
CPU: Core 2 Duo 3 GHz or Athlon X2
RAM: 2GB with DualChannel mode

And yes even the article these could change. As the game isn't even at the gold mastering stage yet. But that's a rough idea at what could come.

^Yea, I saw that article on IGN, but if you read what it said, they are speculative specs from a Spanish gaming magazine, and it seems to be complete crap, as that is the kind of setup that most modern fps require.

http://pc.ign.com/articles/876/876096p1.html

If you look at the minimum requirements for WC3, they are as follows:

400mhz processor
16mb video ram
256 System Ram

So, WC3 is roughly 5 years old, and Blizzard is known to make their games run on lots of different hardware, so I would put the system specs as follows:

1ghz processor
128mb Video Ram
1 gig Ram

I think that is more realistic. How about you?

I agree with you totally. But I have read something a little different here.

http://www.starcraftwire.net/articles/675/starcraft-2-system-requirements

And the important parts from that article are:

Graphics cards: Geforce FX series from Nvidia and above
Radeon 9500 and above from ATI/AMD
GMA 900 onboard graphics from Intel and above
This is due to the fact they are the oldest model of cards in their lines that can access Pixel Shader 2.0 that Starcraft 2 will be using.

CPU: It says basically anything 2Ghz or better will do just fine. And I'll agree there. Sure I think 1ghz + will play the game, but not with the best performance.

HD space required: The article says 7GB. But it also says that this is just a guess. And I agree. No one not even Blizzard will know this at this stage. Ad they are still adding and editing game content.

I have to be done with StarCrafts Campaign soon, feels weird to start playing SC2 without finishing the first game

It comes out when it's done =)
You have to love Blizzard for that =)
