Problems Installing The Sims Original game onto new MacBook

I bought a "The Sims" game for Mac when it first came out. I installed and have played it on an older iMac (OS X 10.2 and classic) and it worked just fine. I tried to install it on my year old macbook and it gave me an error message that said that the game could not be installed because the installer is not supported on this system. I downloaded the Carbon Install patch that is supposed to make it compatible with OS X but it wouldn't let me open it. How do I make it work on my new computer??
