Hi,

ive searched the forums but can't find a solution for this problem that works. trying to connect to the internet on my MBP via ethernet i get a "self-assigned IP" and can't connect. I have other computers connecting to the internet fine through my home network so i know the problem does not lie with my ISP. i have tried the following (to no avail) to fix

tried connecting wirelesly

tried using a different ethernet cable... one straight from a computer that could connect fine

reset my router

reset my computer

hard-reset all settings on my router

checked all settings on my router

upgraded router firmware

checked my mac is set to "using DHCP"

tried renewing DHCP lease on my mac

i can't think of what else to do. internet was working fine on my laptop one second, and literally it just completely died the next... i didn't change any settings or anything

my router is a Netgrea DG834Gv2 is anyone is interested

im running leopard 10.5.2

can anyone help?

thanks

Might be a corrupt preference file.
First, throw away a file called NetworkInterfaces.plist, which is located in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Then restart your Mac.
