Similar error PS CS2 re "___ape_agent + 0x128" code, et al

I encountered Apple's report error window for the first time today upon launching Photoshop CS2.

The error report I encountered is similar to what was reposted above (and actually happened to come to this page doing a search on "___ape_agent + 0x128").

My Photoshop has had to reboot twice when called up, and proceeding after hitting "Reopen" did not pose further problems until yesterday when my MBP froze for the first time since using the it.

This page seems to explain something in relation to OS X's recent update which, after reading it, I do recall doing the update to 10.4.11:
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lang.inug-4d.tech/71997 and I copy first portion of the page in question:
Hi,

Based on personal experience with an application that has been successfully running for many years, I strongly advise developers and users to avoid using 4D 2004.7 rev 3 (and maybe others) with Mac OSX 10.4.11 (latest security update installed) because of multiple, unexplained crashes during 4D execution while building some windows (dialog, confirm, and custom at least). When you trace the code, sometimes things will work (as if it is a timing issue); other times you get hard crashes with messages like the following. So the crashes are intermittent but consistent where crashes occur: when building windows.

All this has been transmitted to Apple more than 10 times.

Parenthetically, there are numerous other annoying bugs with Apple's latest update "OSX 2004.11 Security Update 2008-002". It seems Apple dropped the ball with QA on this release and it may be best to avoid it.

MacPro, 10GB RAM, 10.4.11 Security Update 2008-002
4D 2004.7 rev 3

Jim Redfield

The author quoted above also posted the same issue to this page: http://www.nabble.com/4D-2004.7.3--...-002---Avoid-(Long-Log-Trace)-td16279680.html where he got a reply with a suggested fix:

Hi Jim

Just a wild guess but try removing (or at least moving out) /Library/Frameworks/ApplicationEnhancer.framework. I know there were a bunch of third party extensions like these that broke in OSX 10.5 so maybe the code that made them break there got into the last 10.4.11 update?

You might also try removing /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/ApplicationEnhancer.bundle if that exists.

Regards
Justin

I will try to do this suggestion as I noticed many "Frameworks" entries in my error log.

Lastly, a similar incident involving Outlook on Mac was posted here: http://www.tech-archive.net/pdf/Arc...lic.mac.office.entourage/2008-01/msg00111.pdf.

Anyone with similar experiences/fixes/thoughts?
