Last night I used it to listen to music in my bed with my three-day-old macbook and sometime around 2AM I knocked it off onto the hardwood floors. Smart, huh?

The catch is, everything seems perfectly fine. I know it landed on the back right corner because thats where the mark was, which I was able to rub off.

Are there any programs I can use to make sure nothing was damaged or affected?

You could try the Verify Disk option in Disk Utility.

I've dropped mine countless times. I wouldn't advise it, but mine's always been ok really.

Ime sure if every thing is working, no harm was caused. If your worried ime sure if you take it to an apple store they will give it the once over.

i dropped mine down the stairs a short while ago, while it was open, and it closed as it bounced down the stairs and hit the wall at the bottom....not a good day. i asked exactly the same question as you just have and the responses i got were that if it seems to be working now, and everything seems perfectly normal and as it should be, then there's nothing to worry about.
These little white (or black) packages are stronger than you'd think :)

I once dropped mine from standing holding it onto a pint glass of coke. Glass shattered everywhere, cola splattered all over the living room and MacBook - wiped it off and the only sign is a scratch/shallow cut by the power socket.

They are pretty sturdy machines compared to other similar type notebooks. hard drives are usually ok from drops unless its an extremely hard drop. Only thing that goes wrong usually, at least where I work, is the screen cracks.

i would make sure you back up everything onto an external now though just in case. two of my coworkers have each dropped their macbooks. both times they worked fine for a few days and then crashed and they lost all data. better safe than sorry

Thanks for all of the replies. Everything still seems perfectly fine and because its brand new all of my important files are still on my iMac, so I've got a backup.

And I wasn't using an iPod because I don't.... have... one?
