Finally a boost for the best codec out there (IMO). Just to give an indication of the speed difference nVidia's new GPU may offer with CUDA and the right application; a 2 minute HD file, converted to h.264 took
Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme : 25 seconds
nVidia GTX 280 : 8 seconds
To put this into perspective, the Intel Core 2 Duo above is the fastest quad core it is possible to buy, and the software used on the GTX is an early beta, and sure to improve.
