New firmware messed with app names

After installing the new 1.4 firmware, I opened the apps stack on my dock and noticed that all the apps have the .app after them. This was never like this, and I know it is only cosmetic, but is there some way to get rid of this?

Try this...

Click where it says Finder at the top of your screen (might need to minimize your browser or click on the desktop)
Select Preferences
Go to "Advanced"
Uncheck "Show all file extensions"

That should fix it. Hopefully.
