Main HD Missing from list

Can someone tell me how to get the Main HD to show back up on the desk top and under devices in finder/

click on the background, hold cmd and hit ,

Select General
then you can check Hard disks that'll put it back on the desktop

Select Sidebar
check Hard disks

that'll put it on the finder sidebar

Sorry about that found the combo. Problem is both options are already checked and still no internal hard drive?

In X.4 and X.5 click on Finder>Preferences>General and ensure 'Show HD" is selected.

you have it checked in both places and it's still not showing? Have you rebooted?


actually, before I did that I'd try opening terminal and doing a killall finder

Killall Finder seems to have found it.
