Question about Apple Mail client

I'm new to the mac family and I'm trying to set up my e-mail on the client installed on the computer. I have a hotmail e-mail account and also a gmail and I want to add them both to the client. I don't know what to choose for "account type" and I don't know what to put in "incoming mail server". Could someone help me? Thanks!

you cant add your hotmail account to desktop email program without upgrading to paid subscription

Unless you download and install HTTPMail, but I think I read somewhere that they would change something with Hotmail so that you would not be able to use mailclients at all anymore sometime in the future.
