Titanium?

Why did Apple stop with the Titanium notebooks (i.e. the powerbook), I think that was a good choice of metal for its strength and weight.

Im kind of new and dont even have my MBP yet (waiting for montevina, and hopefully a better video card), so pardon my ignorance. I think itd be cool if they went back to titanium for the MBP.

The Powerbooks were made of titanium from 2001 to late 2002. In early 2003 the Powerbooks were changed to aluminum.

Titanium is a really expensive metal. I would find it very difficult for Apple to switch back. Not to mention titanium was used just as a skin and not for the frame, which is where you really need it.

I think ive heard that it was for environmental purposes as well. (i.e. easier to recycle, etc.)

Ah ok, thats what I was thinking, but after hearing about MBP's flexing/warping and things like that I just had this thought. Thanks for the input.

Aluminum is lighter and better for the environment.
