Anyone here live in or know about the Los Angeles area? What are the nice suburbs in that area? LA has this really vain, narcissistic and materialistic stereotype but are their decent areas there? Something with nice middle to upper middle class communities? Does that exist there?

Nothing wrong with being vain and materialistic! I would fit that description nicely ;)

When you say "LA" you are talking about a huge area that stretches roughly from San Diego to Santa Barbara. You might want to be more specific about where exactly in LA you are interested in, Downtown, the Valley, the West Side, The Beaches, Santa Monica, the East side, South Central, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, City of Industry, Telucha Lake, Big Bear, Sunset and so on....

Exactly. Saying "Los Angeles" is pretty vague. How much money you'll be making will also be playing a large part in his.

Chula Vista will always hold a special place in my heart.

Even though it's in San Diego county, it's still my favorite city in Cali.

JRV, if you will tell me more about yourself, where you're from, what you do, your lifestyle, maybe I can offer more?

I myself am a native of Montecito (Santa Barbara) where I grew up and where my parents still reside today. I now work in Burbank and live in Santa Monica. Personally I have no use for anything east of the Pacific Coast Highway (joking there), but there are great, and not so great communities all over Southern California.

I didn't realize Los Angeles covered all that other stuff. I was just wondering if there were nice upper middle class towns in the Los Angeles area. Something that resembles the town from that movie The Burbs.

Admittedly, I've never seen the movie, but I know it was filmed somewhere in LA. I'm just guessing here, but I get the impression you need to search inland Orange County. Good luck.
