Startup Disk doesnt Reboot ???

Hey All .. Im a complete Mac noob so bare with my stupidity.

I just got a G4 Cube and it has OS10.4 I have an OS10.5 .dmg file on my destop and I went to Startup disk and told it to boot from that file but it just beeps at me when i hit restart. When i manually restart it still boots into OS10.4 and not the .dmg file. Am i doing something wrong? Do i need to burn this file on an actual dvd before it will work. That would suck because i dont have any DL dvds right now. Anyways just wondering ... thanks!!

You need to burn it to a DVD.

Cube will not boot from Leopard. Minimum specs. call for 867MHz processor.

maybe you can point me in the rite direction NEED to find out how to make or burn a startup disk for emergencies any ideas????
