Hey everyone this is my first post. I came here looking for some good advice.

I was able to purchase an old PowerMac last year for $30 that I actually use a lot everyday (I also have a Core 2 Duo Macbook). It's a 867 DP G4 (mirror doors from late 2002) with 1.75 gigs of ram. The only problem is that the video card sucks -- 32 MB Geforce 4 MX.

I need some GPU recommendations. I don't want to spend too much, but I'd like to get somewhere in the realm of 128 megs of VRAM on it, maybe more.

Are there any Core Animation supported cards I could stick in this machine? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Also, I need suggestions for USB 2.0 PCI card. I installed one if my Mac about a year ago, but it has been really flaky.

For graphics card see if you can find an ATI Radeon 9600 Mac Pro with 128/256MB VRAM at a reasonable price. 9600 do not have a fan, just heat sink and are lots cooler than 9800's. There are lots of 9800's about but be aware there has been many, many reported fan failures in MDD models. You can check this out at Apple Discussions and go to MDD and FW800 forums.

USB2 can be flaky, Suggest find out what chipset is on the card and look for drivers.

There is an Ebay seller who sells USB2.0 PCI-X cards with NEC chipset (no drivers required) for $10.00 and Mac compatible video cards for a good price. I think he is trustworthy. But also check out his ratings and see what other buyers say.

Have used that seller and can recommend with confidence. Have his USB2 card in my G4. Have purchased USB2, 2 Graphics Cards and a PCI slot fan from local338. Superfast service also.
