MSSQL Server in VMware Fusion or Parallels?

I really really want to switch back to using a mac again, its been many many years since. For our business though, we use a building estimating program that only runs in windows and needs MSSQL (MSDE 2000) to run. Does anyone know if this will work and work well in either VMware Fusion or Parallels? Thanks if anyone can help with this.
