advice for buying a PowerBook

My powerbook 12'' screen got broken so I am now trying to buy a powerbook 15'' 1.5G for $422.
I have heard that the 15'' Powerbook has some memory slot failure problem. What is your advice as experienced mac users.
The Powerbook is the A1095 model of April 2004.
Please don't tell me to buy a Macbook. I cannot afford it now.

15" MBP Unibody 2.53Ghz 4GB RAM 250GB HD,VERIZON iPhone 4,SIG P238 ,iPad,6th Gen iPod NANO
I would test the Ram slots before I bought it.Or if it's ebay or mail order ask the seller to confirm the slots or guarantee them to work.
