mail.app problems

Recently I have been having minor problems with mail.app

I use mail as my primary email client and I always have it open. I have been noticing that now and again it seems to be running fine but it is not getting my mail properly. then when I try and quit it will not quit and so I have to do a force quit on it. when I then open it back up it retrieves my mail with out a problem, normally quite a few messages because of the backlog while it was not working properly.

Any idea's how to fix this

Check Mail Preferences and see what is selected under checking Mail? Set it for every half hour. Have seen problems sucvh as you mention when set to every minute. Mail seems to get confused. If you get it working advise Apple of your problem.

I have it set so that it checks every 1 min
