Office 2004 on New Leopard

I have two more product keys on my MS Office 2004 Student and Teacher edition. I am going to buy my grand daughter a MacBook laptop with Leopard on it. Will I have any issues trying to install and her to use it on her new computer? Neither of us are ready for the Office 2008. Thanks

Just to add to that - Microsoft did release a couple of updates to enhance Leopard compatibility. So, once you finish installing, be sure to run the Office Updater to get all the most recent patches.

Thanks a million. The main reason I am on this iMac is because I had seen "Vista", now I don't want to have the same experience with Office 2008. I appreciate your useful information, both of you.

One word though... SLOW. Office 2004 on an Intel Mac is SLOW.

When I got this new Mac Pro, I thought that running MS Office 2004 on my Intel Mac would be "a wash" vs. running it on my older PowerMac G5. As you likely know, Office 2004 is a PPC only application, which means that on Intel Macs it runs under the Rosetta interpreter. I thought that the extra speed of my new Mac Pro would offset the slowdown of Rosetta and it would run at about the same speed on my Mac Pro (under Rosetta) that it did on my PowerMac G5 (natively). No such luck. Even on a 3.2 GHz Mac Pro, Office 2004 was painfully SLOW...

I eventually gave up and went out and purchased Office 2008. If you have read my posts since then, you will see that Office 2008 is no speed demon either, but it is faster than Office 2004 under Rosetta, and unlike Office 2004, I haven't seen any crashes, at least yet.

I would advice, if you are committed to MS Office, that you should go out and get Office 2008.

just thought I'd add...every article and blog I have read on Office 2008 says that it isn't worth the light of day if you already have a copy of 2004. I have still yet to upgrade.

Also, 2004 runs just fine on my intel mac....not too sure why it's slow for you.
