Is a dual G4 1,42GHz daughter card compatible with my G4 MDD 2003 single 1,25GHz?

I found an offer for a dual 1,42GHz daughtercard inclusive radiator. I own a single CPU G4 MDD 2003 model with 1,25GHz. So this card would be quite an improvement. What keeps me from buying it is the fact that the seller said he received a memory error message while booting his Mac after he installed the dual 1,42GHz card in his G4 MDD dual 1GHz from the year 2002. My first thought was it's the different system bus speed. But his and my Mac have the same bus speed.

What else could it be? A different ROM perhaps? Or the other hardware differences between the FW800 model and it's predecessor. The daughtercard should be working. It was sold because it was exchanged by a Sonnet CPU upgrade.

Any ideas would be greatly apreciated.

G'day and welcome to the Forums Prax!

Yes the problem was the different bus speed 133MHz>167MHz.

As you have the 2003 1.25 single with 167 bus speed, just a matter of popping that out and slipping in the 1.42. Did you get the copper heat sink with the daughter card or is that what you are referring to as 'radiator'?

So did 1GHz FW800 have the 133MHz bus speed so it can be a little confusing as more than the 867DP had the slower bus speed carried over from the Quicksilver model.

But he has the 2002 G4 MDD not the FW800, which was intruduced in January 2003. These models have both a bus speed of 167MHz.
