Can white balance be corrected after shooting?

I have been using a Sony HDV 1080 which is several times more expensive than my trusty Panasonic NV GS-500.

I have been away filming with it and all the footage has this horrid blue hue on it which means that unlike any other camcorder I have used, the white balance did not adjust itself.

The guy who hired me told me just to point and shoot, but I don't think he will be happy with the results - I certainly am not.

is there anything that can be done to rectify the problem?
