Missing hardrive space? gone?

Need help, It say in disk utility that my hd is 465G, but when i info my macinthoshd it say capacity is 401g and im using 367G ( yes i filled it... mostly movies) where the 65g? system os dosent take 65g.....

because of that i cant make back up on my 400G .. say it to samll... thought i im only using 367G..

eny help? dunno if i was clear enough...

What's in the Trash? Does it need emptying? Are you using a backup utility that's duplicating every file (including all those movies), every time you open/use them?

exact same thing happened to me, I was missing nearly 20GB (of 80GB)

Just put in the boot disk, restart, on boot hold the C key than, run Disk Utility,

select your disk, hit repair disk, & given that you had the same problems I did, it should repair the volume free block count, giving you your real hdd space back
