I upgraded from OS 10.3.9 to Leopard. The first bug I encountered was when the Preview application wasn't opening files. With the help of someone online, I fixed that problem by fiddling with the uid. But after doing that, now Microsoft Word doesn't open. I get all sorts of messages like ""filename" is being used by another user. Do you want to make a copy?" or "Word cannot complete the operation because too many files are open."

G'day and welcome to the Forums!

Suggest deleting Office, using the uninstaller, and installing again from the CD. Upgrading sometimes these things get bugs and corruptions.

Check for the latest updates for MS Word. I would also repair permissions with Disk Utility after an install or update.
