why does the MBP battery life suck so bad????

have there been any updates or new battery life options made available in the past few months? or do we just have to deal with a short battery life span for this machine?

I wouldn't say the battery life sucks. Mine ran for about 4 hours yesterday on battery. I have no complaints yet.

I get 3.5 to 4 hours out of mine - pretty decent for a laptop.

BTW, this would get a better set of responses if it was posted in the "Apple Notebooks" sub forum of Mac Forums vs. here. Perhaps a kind moderator would move it for you...

Way... way too many specs to list.
~4hours is over twice the time I get on my 'extended' battery in my thinkpad.

My old IBM thinkpad with a new battery would get 3.5 max, so getting over 4 consistently while web browsing and downloading etc is awesome.

it'll depend on what your power settings are and what you're doing.

On my year old MBP I ran it on battery power while the keynote was happening and mine lasted 3 hours. I had the display up all the way. My battery only has ten cycles on it. I guess I should calibrate it, I never have in this year at all.

Click on the battery icon on the menu bar or go to System Preferences> Power Saver. If you want better battery life then chose the better battery life option.

And it pays to check these things out before you start slating it...

well this all depends on what and where is your laptop for the most being?

1. Do you have it plugged in all the time?
If so, unplug it, let it die out then re-charged it.

*Never let it charge over 100%*

This is "exercise" your battery, increasing your battery life.

Cheers.

same here. i tired with bluetooth and airport off, sound off, screen turned down while only using MS Word. My battery is only a few months old. let's just say the it will not last 2 hours. i guess i need a new battery.
