USB-Firewire adaptor

I have a USB external drive. Does anyone know if there is a USB-Firewire adaptor and that if I can use it to connect my USB external HD to my Macbook firewire port for faster transfer speed? I tried searching the forum but nothing came up on this topic. Thanks ...

i may be wrong but if you are still connecting the external hd with a usb cable i would imagine that you would not see a speed increase by connecting one end to the firewire port on your mac.

Note the bit about the two technologies not being compatible.

As hugh points out you are stuck with USB. USB, even USB2 does not work so hot on Macs and Firewire is the way to go even if you have to look for another external case.
