Safari does not save my login information

I've never really liked Safari, but I've noticed that it seems to be a bit quicker after my update and I'm growing to like it better than Firefox. One thing I can't get past or I'd use Safari for good--it doesn't save my login information. When I go to any site that requires a username/password with Firefox, it automatically fills it in for me, and all I need to do is push return and I'm logged in. With Safari, it seems to only remember my username, not my password. My dad owns a Mac too and he says that his remembers everything for him. Why doesn't mine? I've looked in the Preferences for Safari and the Security tab in the System Preferences, but to no avail.
How do I fix this? It's really inconvenient.
Thanks,
-Zach
