Windows XP SP3 bootcamp and Fusion

Hi all - advice needed please,
I have Windows XP SP2 installed in Bootcamp and use Fusion to access the Bootcamp partition for my VM.
If I upgrade to SP3, should the upgrade be done in Bootcamp or the VM? Or doesn't it matter?

1. Boot into BootCamp XP

2. Download and install the update from Apple.

3. Download and install SP3

edit: you'll also need to update Fusion to vers 1.1.3 before starting the VM for the first time after installing SP3
