• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

AC says that from his knowledge,

Apple took off all the video effects from the new iLife series (iMovie 08) due to a "downgrade in product functionality."

In return, they offer iMovie '06 HD as a free download from there website which does include all the effects..

Best,
-AC
(p.s. I love your character here on the forums)

P.P.S. For M0RB0's ease of access, This is a direct download link for iMovie HD 06

If MORBO installs new imovie, should MORBO destroy the inferior one that came with macbook pro?

It would definitely be in MORBO's best interests.

Try out this advanced laser weapon for destroying inferior programs.

http://www.appzapper.com/

Essentially disintegrates them and puts the remaining filth in the trash can.

MORBO can use it five times before a license must be obtained to use it.

M0RB0 doesn't have to.

When installed, iMovie 06 will have it's own separate folder with it's own stuff neatly organized away from iMovie 08.

Use both and see which you prefer and if iMovie 08 is necessary.

Is there much that the newer version can do that its older sibling cannot?

Nope, but the UI is designed to allow Morbo to create videos quicker and has an interesting video scrubbing feature when you mouse over clips.
