Leopard Install (clean) from external optical drive?

Hey I am wondering if anyone could tell me if/how to install a clean version of leopard from an external DVD/RW device I have. The optical drive on my macbook pro is busted.

Try holding "option" while booting. If it's selectable, you should be able to. I've read conflicting articles on the subject. (never tried it myself) Firewire or USB may make a difference as well.

If you know someone with a Mac, you can do it thru Target disk mode.

I won't make any promises with Restore disks though...
