leopard & epson 7800

Hello
I have an epson 7800 wide format printer to which I can print via firewire from an old macbook 17" running 10.4.9. I also have a 2007 MacPro with tiger & leopard 10.5.3 on different hard disks. I can print easily from tiger but not from leopard.
For leopard I've downloaded new drivers, after having scoured the system & removed all traces of old drivers, reset permissions, everything I can think of, but still the status of the printer reads 'stopped' when I try to print anything.

Has anyone made this printer work from leopard?

er yes I have!
The status is 'stopped' and is not affected by any of the normal stop-go-pause commands. Pic attached.
