Entourage and Gmail

I've recently started using Entourage but I don't want it to download my previous emails. I only want emails starting from today to go into my inbox. I have a few thousand emails in my Gmail inbox and Entourage is trying to download them all... I've set it to delete anything sent to me more than 20 days ago but it's just downloading them all and deleting them straight away. Is there something I can do so it disregards emails sent to me before today?

If you log on to your gmail account and go to settings, forward&pop imap tab, you can set what you want gmail to deliver there under pop download. There is a selection for enabling pop for email that arrives from now on which should sort your problems.
