Hi all,
I had hitchhiked on another poster's thread and it was closed because he/she had an illegal installation. So this is to continue my discussion
This is my last post in that thread:
"Soulwar, that looks like the answer... it needs a password and that process (on the Apple Menu) doesn't go that route! So the answer is for me to go directly to Apple for updates, which I did for 10.5.3, and THAT does work... Thanks!
"shfle, Thanks to you also. I use MainMenu every day to do that, but will try Disk Utility directly, see if that makes any difference."
To continue, shfle, I did repair the permissions using Disk Utility, and it didn't make any difference...
But I'll just use the internet directly rather than not give up using my password.
Thanks to all for your help, mac57, Soulwar and shfle...
Noel
