• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Does the same happen when you try File - Add to library?

What format is the video in?

ITunes only accepts certain file types. It won't let you import video if it doesn't support it.

Either convert the video, or you can create a shortcut for the video and rename it with a file extension that iTunes supports.

Try it to find out. We can't tell you. If it can't then it is likely iTunes can't.

Where are you dropping it in itunes? When I drag videos to itunes, I have the most luck dropping it over the sidebar on the left . If it is going to work, it outlines the word 'Library'.

AVIs cannot be added to iTunes. Your best bet is to use iSquint or a similar program to convert them.
