A word of warning though if you are using midi for drums, sometimes the midi note-on trigger is not followed by a note off. For simple instruments this does not matter because the sound has a pre-determined duration but if you use the drums with more complex instruments like synths you can get notes that just play forever!
The cure for this is to use something like junXion ...

... to insert note off commands into the midi stream. It can also be used to change the levels from the pads so if you had one pad more sensitive than another you could balance them out. (very useful with cheaper drum kits like the *ion d05 kit)
In fact I'd recommend junXion anyhow because you can use it with wireless devices like Wii controllers or mice to control midi notes.
