15" MBP 2.16 Intel Core 2 Duo
1 GB RAM

Does your MBP hang at startup? This is something I don't remember happening with my old PowerBook. Once and awhile it will hang while doing tasks like clearing cache and history in Safari. I don't think there is spyware for Macs. Maybe this is just a result of the partnership Apple made with Intel.

Well mine doesn't, but maybe the 1GB of RAM has something to do with it??? I thought that MBPs shipped with 2GB standard?

Do you have any external drives connected to the MBP while you are starting up?

No external drives. Maybe I am being too picky but by hang, I mean it takes like 10 seconds to open up Safari. That just seems like too long for such an advanced computer.

hmmm that does seem long...

My Safari opens in less than 2 seconds. I'm going to do some research. Maybe there is something that loads whenever it launches Safari.

Get another gig of ram. I would say I'm 90% sure that would fix it.

Just did a little experiment. Safari loads in about 1 second when the computer has been on already and about 3-4 seconds at startup. Also, my internet connection is via AirPort(maybe that has something to do with it).

Yeah I'm thinking I need another gig.

Another gig might clear up that problem

And If you are hitting Safari the second that it appears on screen, then you are going to get some lag, I get some lag and I have 4GB RAM, the computer is still going through its start up processes, so give it like 6 or 7 extra seconds and that lag should go away.
