Hope someone can help,
I have some old digital images, most Tiff some are Jpg.
When I view them in iPhoto I can view in full screen and they are pretty good quality.
When I view them in Aperture I cannot view them in full screen, they are approx. 1/4 screen and are really poor quality. They seem to be blurred.

Can anyone please help?
It's driving me mad and I am starting to regret investing in Aperture.

Thanks

I've never used Aperature, but I can try to give you some tips...

Try to save whatever it is, even though it looks bad, save it as a .jpg or whatever file format.

Then open it in a standard image viewer and see if it is better.

Also, try going through the top tool bar perhaps view or something, and see if you can go full screen and/or zoom in.

If you see that the image is being shown at, for example, "25%", try to zoom in.

Best,

Thanks for the quick replies all.

OK here goes...I have saved on of the files as a Jpeg. When I open it in Mac Preview it looks great..problem solved? Nope, when I import that 'good' file into Aperture the quality of the Jpeg is as bad as the original Tiff file!!

Arrgh

The files are mostly 640x480 in size.

What is bugging me is the fact that they look fine in iPhoto and Mac Preview.

Any more ideas anyone?

Yeah.
Go to Aperture preferences, then previews. Jack up the quality and/or size if needed.

I moved the quality up as far as it would go.

No joy.

Picture is still blurred and v poor quality.

I just checked the jpeg in iPhoto.

Perfect quality!!

There has to be an answer somewhere.

Don't you have to have aperture re-make the previews? I know I've read about a command for that. Try re-adding the .jpg photo to Aperture with the preview resolution at max, as Aperture should have to generate a new preview with the new settings.

I think we may be on to something here...

I am trying to import the jpeg I made from the Tiff file.

I cannot import it, it isnt showing in the file, to prove a point, I have put a different jpeg (one which I have no problems with) in the same folder and I can import it with no problems.

I can drag the file from the desktop to a folder in Aperture and it shows as a jpeg file but the quality is reaalllly bad!

Do I have to go back to iPhoto to deal with all of my back catalogue?

Surely not.

OK all... Think I have cracked it!!!

I had to export the file from iPhoto.
When the File export box popped up, I changed the 'kind' box to JPEG, changed the 'JPEG Quality box to Maximum, changed 'size' to full size.

Exported to Desktop.

I then imported to Aperture and....... great quality!!

The only thing I havent cracked yet is the size.. I can get a full size picture (fills my MacBook Pro screen) when I am using iPhoto but still only 1/4 screen when using Aperture - even when I click the full screen button.

Almost there.

Thanks for your patience so far......

Glad to hear you've at least got the quality issue sorted. I'm at a loss as for the size of the image. If you magnify the photo in aperture, does it have proper quality? ie, would it look okay if it was made larger?
