Well, if you need it for a banking site or IE only site, you really don't have a choice. And Safari doesn't run on 10.2.5 or below, I believe. IE is bundled with those OSes as the default browser.

You can always choose to run nutscrape...

How is IE insecure? Does it just not know what files are viruses/ spyware, whereas other browsers do? I dont get it...
I Think the problem is that there are security flaws that can be used by hackers / malicious web-site programmers to hack pc systems if they aren't patched...

The problem is that IE is tightly integrated into windows which makes the vulnerability all the worse,...

Firefox doesn't have many of these vulnerability's and is 'securer' as a result...

You needn't worry about that on your mac though as they relate to windows, not specifically to Internet explorer. Use whichever browser you feel most comfortable with on your mac.

Most people don't choose Internet Explorer since a)it hasn't be upgraded in a while, b) it doesn't look as modern as Firefox or Safari and c)because they don't like Microsoft.

I don't use it for reasons a) and b).

I check out your site, it loads in firefox, though really really slowly for some reason, so maybe safari is just timing out...

Reasons not to use IE for Mac:
- Slooooooooooow
- No longer updated or supported
- Much better alternatives available
Other than those, it actually had some neat features and at the time it was actually better than it's Window's brother when they were released.

Reasons not to use IE on Windows:
- Security issues: Since the original poster doesn't seem to think IE has security issues, here is a link to a google search for "IE Security Flaws". On a side note, you have to be completely living in a cave to not realize they exisit.
- Lacking in features: this of course is based on preference like tabbed browsing, etc. Although IE on XP did finally get pop-up blocking.
- My biggest pet peeve is that it's web standards support (CSS, HTML, XHTML) is just crap. It's buggy and hasn't been updated in years. Completely unacceptable in my book.

And I think AbZero will agree with me when I say I'm not a "mac fanboy". I still own a PC, I used to work for MS, and I definitely think in some areas (especially games) PCs do beat Macs. I will say though on my PC, I use Firefox which is a totally rocking browser for that platform.

Probably a better place to get help with this is to post a new thread about it in the Web forum. People will be more drawn to it then...
