I'm going to be going to college this coming fall and have been hearing that the macbook is going to be updated. I'm looking at buying the $1299 model of the macbook. I don't want to pay anymore than that (or actually $1199 with the educational discount) so I was wondering if with the update on the macbook, the price would go up. What would you guys recommend I do? Buy the macbook now or wait?

Thanks for your time.

apple seldom raises prices. most of the time they just up the specs or update the product and keeps the prices the same.

the speculation is that there will be new mb and mbp announced at wwdc. but that is not a given. if you can wait go for and see if they do release something new.

if you choose to buy now go for it. a new mb will not be out of date for several years. remember when you are dealing with technology the next new thing is always right around the corner

WWDC is sometime in June, so yes, you won't miss the update if you're going to school at the end of August.

Buy it now if you *NEED* it, hold out if you want the latest and the greatest (for 4-6 months and it'll be replaced with newer model).

You may also get a free iPod nano if you buy it in August-September.
