Hey all, I'm having a heck of time with my new Mac Book Pro. None of the system settings are remembered what so ever. I'm running 10.5.2, 2.4ghz intel core 2 duo, 4gb ram. 32GB partitioned HD for Microsoft Windoze XP Pro, and parallels installed.

Let's just stay in the Mac OS for now. I'm going into the Mac HD and hit Apple+J, set always open to icon view, set icon size, snap to grid, and put a color in the background. Close the two windows, and restart the computer, and none of the settings are remembered when I go back to the main HD?

I repaired the permissions, but I think it's a corrupt file in the preferences, but I don't remember which one to throw away and restart? Help? Thanks in advance.

Negative. But if I did, what would be the issue?

It sure did! Great tip thanks! It kinda stunk having to redo all the settings, but after an hour or so, it's back to normal.

Is there anyway to remove this whole user structure? It's so annoying since I'm the only user of my computer? And requiring a password to make a simple folder on the hardrive is ridiculous. I know Mac was thinking of multiple users and family stuff but jeez, a folder. LOL.

Thanks again.

Oops, I just had a default again back to factory settings, but I logged out then logged in, and reset my settings and it's working again. This OS is a little too sensitive for a single user.

The locking of the folders is ridiculous. I can't even set up my iTunes the way I want to as it won't let me name some of the Mp3's? How do I unlock this overprotective feature once and for all?

I think installing Boot Camp and Parallels has a lot to do with this user account situation. Every time I come out of Parallels or XP, the MAC OS preferences are gone.
