That's basically my problem, whenever I hook it up to my mb, nothing happens. How can I fix that?

It recognizes my HP camera just fine though. Right now, since I don't have a card reader, I make do with swapping the memeory card in my Canon with my HP and using it as a makeshift card reader.
I'm on Leopard if that helps.

Does it show up in the system profiler?

Sorry, what do you mean? Is that a program. I'm a recent switcher so this mac stuff is kinda new to me. My hp just gets itself mounted automatically. The disk image appears on the desktop.

I have the very same Camera and a MacBook, and it opens iPhoto when i plug the USB lead in, so not sure whats wrong with yours, it may be worth opening iPhoto then plug in the lead and go to the menu and click IMPORT, that should work I think

Canon cameras, to my knowledge, do not mount as mass storage drives. Just the way Canon works. Will not show up on your desktop, but will most certainly allow you to import your photos into iPhoto. Recognized there, just not as a disk.

Go to Applications Folder and select Image Capture

Go to Image Capture's preferences and make sure that the application (i.e. iPhoto) you want to use with your camera is selected.
