Need help badly

I have a Mac Pro with 2 x 2.66 ghz dual core intel xeon processor, 3gb 667 mhz DDR2 FB-Dimm ram and running OSX 10.4.11.

It should fly but it runs like a total dog.

This is bad as I run a very busy graphics studio and this sort of performance is not acceptable.

Can anyone help please or give any suggestions as to what the problem may be?

Have you tried running any maintenance on it?

I would start with this FAQ. Also, I would download Onyx and run through some of the basic maintenance tasks.

Try running your "permissions" repair.... it is under the hard drive, then applications, utilities,, then Disk utilities..... if their is a problem, this should fix it....

Mine had problems as well. I tried all the advice above, but it didn't make much difference.

The solution turned out to be resetting Safari. Now everything flies again.
