Using a MBP with Leopard. Using a iPod Phot form like 3 years ago. I manually manage my songs but when i try to eject the iPod it says:

"The disk "xxxxx" is in use and could not be ejected. Try quitting applications and try again.

I have used the switcher to close all apps using Command Q. I also restarted the Finder. I am not sure what I am missing. I am a few months into my first mac and I just can't fugire this one out. Please help.

Yes even when I eject from iTunes. Is this is an issue because its an iPod formatted for Windows?

type from a terminal

diskutil unmount /etc/Volumes/yourIpodName

to see what error message it gives you from there
you can force the unmount even if there are opened files by typing

sudo diskutil unmount force /etc/Volumes/yourIpodName
