error codes

Is there anywhere I can get a list of error codes? I keep getting dialogue boxes appearing telling me something is wrong and giving me an error code which means nothing to me at all.

ok I did try to google the codes but with little success.
here are 2 I have recently encountered
code -43 when starting time machine
code -61 whilst trying to delete files
