I have just purchased a 24" 2.8Ghz Imac about a week ago. Yesterday, my son tried to eject a music CD which was in the drive in the Imac but was not able to. :[ There is a continuous sound of the CD trying to be ejected but it does not appear. I've tried to hold down the mouse button while restarting the Imac but it does not work either. Would appreciate it if anyone can help. Thanks!

This is a bit worrying as I had the same problem as yours.
I bought the same model on Sunday
Luckily I had made a windows environment on a separate partion.
I resolved it by rebooting into Windows then selecting the eject option on the Cd/DVD drive and out it popped.
If I was still in the Mac environment I don’t know how I would have got it out.

I have given up trying and have since sent it to the Apple service center. I am trying to get them to replace the drive as the iMac is only a week old. Thanks for your reply. Will give it a try if it ever happens again.

You reboot? I had this problem at first but then I just held the button down a few times, which I still do.
