I have an external hard drive and would like to back up itunes. Not as an .xml file but as mp3's. So how do I achieve that?

One option is go to iTunes>Preferences>Advanced>General>iTunes music folder location...Change it to a folder on external drive where u want to back up your music...Save & OK...

Advanced>Consolisate Library...This will copy all of your music from you original itunes music folder to the new folder..

Once it finishes cosolidatig process..go back to itunes prefrences as mentioned above and reset the itunes music folder location...This will make itunes to come back to original itunes music folder in your home directory..cheers.
