Hi Guys / Gals ,

At work we have a Powermac G4 400Mhz ( Yikes ? )
it is running on OS 9 .
We want to upgrade it to OS X Panther .

I downloaded OS 9.1.1 / 9.2.1 / 9.2.2 from Apple and tried to install OS 9.1.1 , it says it can't do it without the original disc .

Any ideas ?
Also do i have to upgrade the firmware to go to OS X ?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give

Hi Paul,
Apparently having the Apple Language kit installed requires that you use the OS 9.1 update CD and not the download. If you had the original disk you could try to restore/install OS 9 with out the kit. Since you don't have the original disk you might try to skip directly to one of the later updates like 9.2.1. Apple says that it is not necessary to update in order. Otherwise, if you don't need OS 9 you might try formating the HD and installing Panther. The Apple support site has a tech note on installing OS 9 after X if you need it.
